kakashi is still young (in his late 20s iirc......) given that he wouldnt want to be tied down and he had massive responsibilities to the village, he didnt have time or interest is raising naruto

kakashi is strong but is starting to become shadowed by the strength of the new generation. he is strong but has more smarts and rationality than anything which is why he is such an important candidate to become hokage. strength doesnt really matter when ur a kage because you just become commander, you never actually fight unless something happens like ochi cornering u on a roof. look at the raikage, he has some of the most destructive power in the army but he is stuck at a desk giving orders
