It would be stupid if he was in zero, he's not as strong as some main character that are captains.

Isshin and Urahara are probably the strongest "captain class" Shinigami.

So It would make since if he was in Zero squad. Which would be why no one but Urahara, knew about him.



He wasn't even in Shikai form either.

Na he held his own until Aizen was no longer a Shingami (became hollowed).

It would actually be really cool and would explain SO MUCH about there family. He did lose his powers like Using Final Engetsu, like Ichigo did with Final Zangetsu It's hasn't said how he regained his powers. Which would mean why he couldn't/didn't use his Shikai.?
