The "ojou-sama" the blonde rich girl supposedly is solution. She is an acid slime, and she eats them by absorbing em and melting her prey inside of her.
She wanted that guy because he was like "Yo she's mad hot, I wanna go inside her"
which turned her switch on when she was spying on him and he got his wish.

and inside that carriage, the guy who lured them to the bandits, didn't know shalltear was in there, so he was shocked when she came out first.

And I don't watch any specials, they're too stupid most of the time. So me not knowing she was introduced an episode or two earlier via special is negligible.
