You can.. it is a similar process like in XP, except you need to patch the uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, and shsvcs.dll for Vista.

Oh your using 7, I think they released uxtheme patcher for Win7.. not sure it its stable or not.. I'll probably try it out on my VM later.

I know Gaia09 has a beta for Windows 7...I think the patching process is a bit strange thought.
For the startbutton you need to replace explorer.exe and for the nav. buttons you replace ExplorerFrame.dll.

I've been exploring Gaia2008 recently.

I like that setup looks nice and minimalistic lol. After you told me about Findexer and when I set it up damn its so useful.

Finderxer is one of the greatest apps ever :lol:
Can navigate through explorer in your sleep, even in the most minimalistic setups.

You should try your hand at modding/creating a litestep theme if you haven't already.
I'd be interested in seeing where you went with it, given your graphic abilities (Gift meh!)

Haha, I've been wanting to try making a skin it looks pretty fun yet tedious lol. Have you tried making one already?

taof and midnight, is there any such shell app for a mac ?

I've been wanting to redo this wreck of a system for a while and found little in the way of help.

I hate/love mac...
