Sometimes it's just the cord going from the pc=external that shits out. Sometimes it's the powersupply within it. Like if it's connected to your computer 24/7 it can burn out. Being rough with it ummm just unplugging without ejecting it from your computer can also mess with the data. They're kinda fragile. :X
