It may have something to do with later guys, because him smiling like that shows how interested he is in those 2 and the reason why he doesn't want to kill luffy fast in the Marine HQ.

He's interested in those two because Zoro lost to him but still lost honorably by never showing his back to his opponent and Mihawk saw that he would eventually become really strong and his captain came to rescue him even though he knew that his opponent was a hundred even a thousand time stronger then him.

mihawk isnt that much stronger than luffy though... he is stronger but not ALOT more imo

true but luffy has defeated 3 schibukai or however you spell it... imo if all the schibukai are as strong as the ones luffy has defeated already then luffy could beat all of them in a 1v1 at full strength/health

Well he was able to beat Crocodile cause he found his weakness, and he used Morias own power against him. Other than that.. I dunno. :/

yeah but he still defeat him no doubt... and lucci was stronger than both the schibukai luffy beat... and lucci didnt have any weakness
