Meh, this whole fudge with all of the recurring characters is just annoying, just a way to keep adding chapters...Bringing back weaker versions of already defeated characters just seems really uninspired and honestly pretty predictable...Cmon...Zabuza and Haku? They should go down in 1 hit each, haha...

if we compare skills,

kakashi < Akatsuki < legendary sannins < hokages

You can clearly see, that in leaf village, theres almost nobody, who can be equal to akatsuki except .. 4 ppl? And kankurou was pwned by Shino, so if kankurou can take one/two akatsukis down, so i assume, shino can too .. and so the rest.
So Just with 2 years of work, they surpassed kakashi???? lol

Each person's skills progress more rapidly than others. Kakashi revealing his MS really put him in a tier above most. Tbh I think Kakashi is still with the rest of the generation with Naruto and everyone else. He's still pretty young. Take that how you want it, some characters have gotten buffed where others have not.

not to mention they were on alliances ground and they knew the counter to the akatsuki
