imo no, shortening his life then they will make him die at the end of anime if they finish it ... and that will be a bad ending.

the only thing i can remember being said about it is that in most people it could be fatal or very damaging, but because luffy is rubber, his body can take it.

Lucci said this when he was fighting Luffy. He said Luffy is capable of using this technique because he is rubber, but he is shortening his life by doing so.

thought he says that it might lead him to a shorter life, because luffy depletes his body or something.
but luffy can replenish what he lost by eating a ton afterwards.

Well, when Luffy uses G2, he starts pumping more blood throughout his body, so I'm just guessing but I think it has to do with his heart.

i believe that what was stated in the anime, but rather unclear, again i could be wrong, it's been a while

i do distinctly remember lucci saying luffy;s organs are rubber as well, and are able to withstand gear 2nd

I'm pretty sure he said it was shortening his life after he said that he's able to do it cause he's rubber. Could be bad subs though.

But it does sound like something Luffy would do. Getting stronger in order to protect his friends and family, not caring if it shortens his life.
