just now finished Kaichō wa Maid-sama! was very good but disappointing in the end.
So looking for a romance with a school setting. Would prefer if the love interests actually got together within the series and not at the end. (aka if the whole series leads up to a kiss, im not interested)

i didnt see yu yu hakusho on there, that is semi romance.
definitely a must watch imo.

I think Higashi no Eden is exactly what are you looking for.
It's romance-ish, got plenty of action, is unique, great char development etc.

If you want something more school/comedy/romance oriented, watch Ouran High School Host Club.
If you want a hamster commenting on her mistress relationship in a hilarious way, watch Oruchuban Ebichu, but I recommend the above two.

Depends.
If you want bloody action with depressing moments - Ga Rei Zero
If you want more of a less serious anime, none the less - still pretty serious, more of a light hearted action, consisted with a tiny bit of romance and sci-fi - Highashi no Eden.

I watched both in one go.

Imho, I'd watch Highashi no Eden first, coz it's really cool and will loose on quality (more like: enjoyment) if you watch it after depressing anime Ga Rei Zero is.
