Ye ive read some tuts.. however this doesnt help you always :/ For example its hard for me to know whether i use the same gradientmap/photofilter as in the tut..
seeing that i have a different render, different colors etc

its hard to know if the step they take in the tut is good for this render only of for all the render in that genre in general..
And also the position of the layers is never mentioned.. Its easy to say hey duplicate this and make it linear dodge and the other color dodge.. but i never know the order of the layers

Yeah but that's why when you follow tut's you should use exactly what they use , Flow , Design , Renders , C4d's, Brushes etc.
You may not even come out with the same outcome they do , Infact you won't 90% of the time , How can you copy someones smudging to a 100% T , You can't that's the thing , But you'll learn things.
Whenever I used to do tuts when I was first learning I would be like omg my outcome isn't even close to what they have, However every tut I learned atleast 1 cool thing, Whether it be a touch up , Way of brushing, Way of setting a light source etc... to carry on with me
