Madarame could become a captain but chooses not to. He's not even a vice-captain. Is he weaker than a vice-captain? no.

Since "captain-cammander is obv always strongest" then he's obviously the main character right? no.

Your qualifier= none.

Logic dictates that since he was not the strongest character in the beginning, he was not the main character. Which was of course not the case.
