What makes you say that? It's not useless. The anime probably couldn't continue if Ichigo didn't get his powers back. Of course, the manner they picked is just boring. It's more or less just a starter arc for the next part of the show. I think we're looking at something similar to Naruto Shippuden at this point in Bleach.

Besides the fact that he got his powers back, these characters will be useless and not mentioned at all is my point. 

I'm sure they'll go into their past about their sob stories like these characters have any depth to them at all, but they don't and we should just move on asap
