there are ways how a soulreaper can have no zanpaktou (break, lose it)

a captain with no zanpakutou or a bankai is much better, sounds more of a bad ass imo

and then again, there are also those spirits that lives outside the gotie 13 with high amount of reiatsu and can perform kido and hand to hand combats but choose not to join the gotie 13.
mosts of those people/spirits/souls hates Shinigami's

in my humble opinion or theory, she is born in a royal family that for generations have been the commander of the Onmitsukidō - assasin/stealth corp but without a zanpakutou.
the corp used to be separate branch and she united them when she became a captain, it is "Kind of" safe to assume that her ancestors may have not had any zanpakutous at all, because none of them was a member of the gotie 13 untill her.
her family have always been the leader/head/commander of the Onmitsukidō corps. so she could also be the first one to have been part of the gotie 13 captain and also commander of the Onmitsukidō.

just a theory and please don't rage over it.

good theory, but im still pretty sure that yoruichi has a zanpakto since multiple sites confirm that she used to wear/use a zanpaktou in the same way soi fon does now

I also said that wiki's can be edited. I know that because a certain friend of mine trolled a forum and made everyone believed his source, "The source that he edited"
took them a good couple of months before they changed it, by then he's moved to different house on a different country with different IP

yeah i know it can be edited, but its been the same for a long time now yoruichi is one of my fav chars so i check that page alot and rarely changes so im pretty sure its accurate
but still not 100%

guess we will never know unless we get to see a history arc

it's a bitter sweet following a manga.
you're all fired up when there's a new chapter, but then you go back and ask a question,
then asking if it will be revealed or not.
that's when we lost faith and sometimes, gets trolled >.<

she is not just a powerfull spirit.
she is a SHINIGHAMI hence she MUST weild a zanpakuto.
simple as that
