I think Itachi did what Minato did to Naruto, placed himself inside Naruto, so he can do some super sealing jutsu that will seal Sasuke's Sharingan Eyes (including EMS) forever.

i could see that going down the one time naruto encountered sasuke after the gift was given sasukes eyes went dark and he wasn't using the shargian

i can see itachi putting him self inside of naruto and and during there fight the itachi chakra is awakened and they have a convo and itachi asks something like, can he be saved or is he changed , naruto is like no hes gone to evil completely then itachi is like i'll give you a way to beat him with out killing him then, and itachi seals his own eyes that are inside of sasukei and sasuke goes blind cause his eyes are bad and itachis are sealed


but in all honestly my money is on naruto changing sasukes heart and they 2v1 madara
