considering you can't be a captain with a small pool of reiatsu then yes I am talking about their reiatsu.

there are other's that is on a captain level but still not a captain just like Ichigo. i wasn't the one arguing against the size of the sword.
infact i have known that fact for a long time, I'm just pointing out that the size of his sword shouldn't matter even if it never come up in anime or manga.

just like other anime's and manga, the main character is always going to have unstable level of power. weak at the start of the fight, then gets a boost before the end >.< dbz rip imo

ikkaku is nowhere neer ichigos level. so why the hell did u bring him up while talking about reiatsu levels?

there are other Shinigami's that can be a captain level but still not a captain, therefore they can control there sword sizes without even noticing it.

the fact that Ichigo is way past the captain levels, he probably doesn't notice or even shred a care about the actual size of his sword, it just stays to whatever form that would suit him.
ability to control the size of his sword is probably the less of the worries of the author.

if you worry too much about how a character have an unexplained ability/skill that wasn't explained, then Bleach is probably the last thing you would want to read/watch.

and as of Isshin's "has to control the size of his sword cause he's a captain level" my theory is that because he only just got his powers back and still not used to it just yet.

i never read anything about sword sizes... LOL.

Ichigo is strong and there is probably only 1 person stronger then ichigo right now and thats the head capt without his final transformation he pales in comparison to the head capt.
why ikkaku was brought up is something im still wondering, ikkaku is obviously captain level strength, but like it was said way earlier in the manga, some captains are WAY stronger then others.
but they are all beastly strong either way. Altho only a few people have capt. level strength but are not captains.

u also need the battle experiance + smarts to be a captain and ofcourse there has to be an open spot else you can't be a captain
ikkaku has the strenght of one but he lacks the smarts+ selfcontrol
renji is good but he is not on captain level yet (comparing him to the other captains overall)
