Uhhh I like usually hate gun type animes but....... Phantom was like the one of the best ones I have seen in a long time , I'd even par it over gungrave , just cuz gungrave killed an awesome mafia anime with undead shit

But yeah Phantom was great Imo atleast , Idk though I like sword/magic animes and that's my thing so phantom up against Gai-Rei I'd probably say idk I'd tie it now just cuz I haven't seen a good anime in awhile but usually I'd prolly put Gai-Rei > , Not by a hell of alot though , Yeah Phantom's ending kinda sucked but you can't let 1 episode change you opinion to say the whole anime is shit.

I thought the changing thing was good, good plot change imo how they started to feel bad and emotion for what they were doing, you would irl wouldn't you eventually ?

yeah but, there's a difference i think. phantom started really well, and it was going along at a decent pace. I just don't see how adding forced emotion into the mix enhances the show.
yeah, it's human nature to show remorse, but at the same time they were conditioned to be mindless soldiers and I'd just enjoy the show that much more if we didn't hafta do the whole bawwww feelings teartear sideshow.
like index episode 4, almost 19 minutes of fffffffffffeeeelings THIS IS WHY I FIGHT THESE ARE MY FRIENDS WTF DONT YOU HAVE FRIENDS bullshit. great, i mean, the characters are capable of emotion, doesnt mean that the plot has to deride in that direction

take noir, madlax, black lagoon, boogiepop, pre-zombie gungrave, baccano, DOGS, jin-roh, berserk even. they all had lovely amounts of killing and emotions involved, but as the viewers we werent subjected to the REMORSE REMORSE O WOE IS ME tearfest. idk, i mean, to each their own but, i just don't find watching that entertaining, especially when they could have avoided that twist completely. at the same time, ga-rei did touch on that sorta too but it wasn't as forced, and it was introduced in a way that felt like a natural slide towards the inevitable, instead of a 1-2 episode change of heart for no discernable purpose.

sacred blacksmith then, maybe. s'pretty decent adventure anime, well animated at least. only 1-2 perverted moments so far, n they don't really dwell on it, although i can't say it was necessary to the plot.

Well like Harry killing Brandon in gungrave still pre-zombie shit was still heartless as fuck , Idk I thought the whole change of heart/Cal coming in was great in Phantom if you made it that far , which from the sounds of it you have..

Cause really he didn't have his big change of heart till he met Cal , so it's not like the whole emotions really came out of nowhere , And Ein aka Elen always seemed like her emotions died long ago however Zwei aka Reji was able to change her as well.



No you watch Gungrave and you'll agree this is not the case , You start off with a couple bleh episodes then you have this intense mafia show of 2 best friends moving up and getting ahead in the mafia , then all of a sudden you have zombie bullshit , Watch it and lmk, you will think good irl type anime ruined by bad fake stuff , They had a really good thing and walked down the wrong path for an ending/twist in the anime.

Phantom on the other hand introduces some of the most amazing twists that can happen in an anime the best ways

spike's cruising along, everything's progressing as normal, the plot's been underway a good while, shit's going great. you've established a time, place, setting, reasonable expectations, and then suddenly right before the climax, ed's father comes to pick her up. suddenly he turns inside out into a mutated zombie mess of dicks, organs, and tentacles, and violently fucks everyone onboard the ship? 15 minutes later, the impressions and atmosphere set by the previous 18 or so episodes is tossed out the window and you're left with a naked faye valentine bleeding from all orifices and ed's decapitated head as a chandelier ornament. shit just doesnt work sometimes.
