As for naruto i like his background and such , i think he worked out to be a decent character .
My personal favorite character is kakashi . just because he seems really awesome lol.
naruto has short cuts also,
who else in the show uses 1000 shadow clones to gain experience while training? he is using the fact his chakara mixes with the fox "at the time"
Sasuke is given a lot of opportunities for power but its mostly because he is the last uchiha, and cause he is natural a good ninja, he was obv best in his class before he even had the shargian to copy he could do all the basic jutsu plus higher level ones. and he trained hard as a kid to be at the point when the other kids were playing in the sand and eating candy he was training to get the respect from his father, he was at the lake perfecting the fire jutsu he was in the forest doing knife throwing jutsu
he was given power by ochi cause he was natural good and had potential and ochi wanted his body, he was given power by itachi cause brother love , same reason 4th gave fox to naruto, when you compare them they both have worked hard and got shortcuts due to family and love and potential
