well his dad looked like he was just using fullbring, that thing in his hand so he obviously has something to do with it too, and that would explain how he got his powers back (same as ichigo is getting his) and why he is stronger than the typical shinigami

they explained that ichigos dads final getsuga tenshou was different n he still had some of his powers left
