i took vo-tech comp classes in high school to learn to put a computer together. little did I know that putting a computer together is basically just if it fits, plug it in there.

Being able to build and select the parts yourself is always going to be better.
Those alienware cases are ugly as hell too. Their shit is far more expensive. And as far as water cooling goes, I'm willing to bet that they're just putting in a shitty h50 to cool their cpu in order to call it water cooling. And those get outperformed by air coolers.
A real custom water loop is very expensive and could easily cost $1k on it's own if you plan to run loops through your cpu and gpus.

If you want some practice on building a computer, go pick up a box of legos and have at it. It's that easy.
