Orochimaru was way better than "regular genius" He was probably way above Kakashi's current level even with his new MS. He was praised as the genius who comes along once every few hundred years. If you don't count genetic traits like sharingan and stuff he was probably the most talented in the world.

lol i dont think orochimaru is dead yet, he had a huge influence in the plot since the start of the manga/anime, hes gunna take over kabuto n live through his body just like he did every time he got a new host, then hes gunna rival madara or just become a neutral 3rd party enemy who causes shit n fucks with madaras plans
