Basically this anime as you know is related to the bible. I think the ending was to symbolize that there always has to be a balance of good and evil in the world and you must have faith that God will protect his believers and Father gave up on his faith and was still atoning for his sins. Also Aion may be the immortal all powerful "Devil" and his horns change time or whatever that's why he was still alive. That's my thoughts on the matter.

edit: lol I would type more but I am too lazy atm but it really just depends if it interests you. I would say check out the first episode/chapter and see if it is something you might enjoy.
