to me it's sorta like, they're supposed to be scary, they're trying really hard to be scary, so you end up just going along with it & pretending to be slightly.. somewhat creeped out, but in the end it's just a bucket of blaaaah.
like, suicide circle was a great movie. it was supposed to be a great ~horror~ movie, but it was so totally cheese for that part.
even ju-on, which ppl're saying's like badass compared to the american release, was just sorta.. cute..
haven't seen shutter, but i guess ill grab it sometime.
but like, expectations, totally not high.
never seen suicide circle but u should definitely watch shutter (the thai film, not the american remake)
and audition was not scary at all
another decent jp horror i seen recently was infection, tho not as good as shutter but still a decent 1
