What defines 'scary'?
Cuz no movie kept me up at night since I was like 6...
Doesn't mean that Ju-On wasn't a decent scary movie...
Also: Marebito.
Also: the shit with the needles in Audition got to me...
marebito ill get too, since its a monkey rec heh
scary is .. scary
like if it manages to make you feel submerged in the movie to the point where, something creeping up behind the main char's creeping up behind your back too. i guess?
like i havent been scared absolutely shitless since i was a kid too, thanks 'are you afraid of the dark', but my point was more that, in terms of building believable suspense or introducing sudden shock, asian horror just seems a failure in that dept. psychological horror/mindfuck isnt quite the same. like, visitor q was scary, scary in the way that, someone legally/succesfully made that shit into a film, but it wasn't like, terror/horror scary persay.
i mean its like, silent hill's supposed to be scary - the ps1 games were scary - but when you see some idiot woman totally ignoring the signs'n be all, WELP time for a vacation into silent fucking hill~~ it sorta.. derides any feeling of suspense that could possibly be built up due to her sheer stupidity alone.
