luffy who started pirating on a small fishing boat has made so many allies to the half point.

lola's crew

crocodile maybe (including mr 1,2,3 etc.)
shank will probably be his ally
remainder of whitebeard's crew

after doffy is defeated, i assume bellamy to start a new journey and he will be luffy's ally
skypeia people

boa hancock and all of amazon lily
newkama pirates
maybe mihawk (probably more of a neutral tho, but definitely not a hostility)
potentially aokiji maybe
maybe buggy (weird relationship tho)
lots of allies made in dressrosa including bartholomew, cavendish
dragon (including the newkama ivankov, sabo, bartholomew kuma), altho there may be eventual friction between dragon and luffy depending on what dragon's actual intentions are and if this conflicts with luffy's instincts. but the other possibility is that they will be allies as well
coby, garp
smoker will also be an ally, most likely smoker will find faults in the marines and follow his own instincts like aokiji
vivi, arabasta's army
the blind admiral may become ally also


also the concept of marines vs pirates is extremely well plotted out... coby had this idealistic view that everything marines did was 'good'. but that was completely demolished when he saw morgan's nature. sakazuki's persona also reflects this really well. is 'absolute justice' good? the answer so far told has been no.

the marines are supposedly the 'good people' who protect and carry out justice. but if anyone's ever taken philosophy classes, what this really entails is the challenge of ethics. means to an end? or does means not matter?

the WG is obviously trying to protect something, but their means of doing it are not necessarily good... it's more selfish...

during the war with whitebeard, doffy said a line that extremely hits this point hard. all the marines are yelling 'justice must win!' but doffy says 'justice? what justice? whoever wins this war BECOMES JUSTICE'

and that is also referring to what happened 800 years ago with the people of D who lost the war and WG came to rule the world and became 'justice'

the forgotten history, the void century... none of it is recorded becuz it is an inconvenience to the WG. i believe this highly applies to the real world as well. in schools, we are taught about history, but how much of the content written in the history books is actually unbiased? i'd have to say none of it. when writing history, there is always a bias, and there are untold stories of people who suffered or died, but none of these records are written.

take our recent wars for example. how many of these written histories about wars actually depict stories on an individual level? usually the only records are how long the war took, overall stratagies, and the winner and the loser. don't ever forget that the soldiers who fought all had families and friends. the weapons used, developed, etc. etc. were used to win wars through military power (also evaluated in one piece), but how much do we not know about how the people suffered. even if a side won the war, the dead soldiers are dead. civilians caught in the conflict also died. there are many stories of soldiers who raped women. etc. etc.

the reason why i love one piece so much is that the story... the world of one piece, although they may be fictional with fictional characters and aspects, really really REALLY capture the real world we live in today... (for example, the discrimination vs fishmen are analogous to racism that has existed few centuries ago)












oh and also, the heal heal fruit can heal law's arm, but at the expense of some of her life time. that was explained when that executive said 'she can completely restore the factory with expense of some of her life)

I kept thinking Smokey/Luffy's relationship was going to be like Garp/Gol D Roger
they are technically on opposite sides and fight but they trust each other kind of thing

I started noticing that Smoker and his group wanted to basically be able to do some things that Luffy's crew was doing and began liking them but they knew they shouldn't.

it's not that they 'knew' imo

i think it's the whole 'whoever wins becomes justice' and ppl are just brainwashed through propaganda that 'all pirates are bad'

only the people who are able to see beyond the scopes of what's defined 'good or bad' by arbitrary laws provided by those who are currently in power are able to become stronger. and luffy is clearly exemplary of that, having friends on both the sides of pirate and marines

luffy sees what actually is, while other normal ppl see what the World Government wants them to see.

G5 are known as kind of the brutal ones but they seemed rather people who thought like that rather than follow in line type.

Okay, you've pretty much listed everyone luffy has made friends with and I don't think some of the listed will ally with luffy in terms of digging along side him in a war similar to whitebeard. Here's why:

Crocodile: conditional to whether or not he gains from it himself.
Shanks: milestone for luffy to beat, no way would shanks bail luffy out after he's come so far.
Rayleigh: he's not going anywhere, he'll sit and watch and comment but let's face it, he has no real reason to get involved and so most likely won't.
Skypiea people: highly doubt they'll come down to earth. They don't even know what's going on down there.
Newkama pirates & revolutionaries: I just don't see luffy and dragon fighting side by side. Sabo though... The part of friction between dragon and luffy seems believable, but mainly because the idiot gene seems to have skipped a generation.
Mihawk is just extremely unlikely, I can really only see him juking it out with zoro and wrapping up that storyline.
Coby yes, Garp no
Smoker and issho, perhaps.

Basically anyone from gol d rogers time is a no, their era is over and their story has been... Partially explored.

I'm not sure how the marine situation will resolve, which is what I love about op. I mean they can't exactly just kill akainu and I doubt he will change his absolute justice persona.

The last fight will probably be Blackbeard and his 10 crews vs luffy and allies.


As for current events, I wonder what'll happen to doffy after luffy kicks the crap out of him. I find it hard to believe Oda will kill him off, but then again... It is oda! Can't wait for dress rosa to complete!



Edit: I also have a problem with how weak smoker is! To not even damage vergo, let alone joker is about sanji level... And for him to mimic the garp/roger relationship, he'll need to step it up a lot.
