yeah, It felt a little random, still clannad is #1 for me though, makes you think about some things differently :P

Imo Kanon (2006) handled the "supernatural ending" better than Clannad: AS though.

harem alone is quite boring, it has to be with romance + comedy!

well most harems have some romance and comedy if it was just a whole bunch of girls around a guy the whole season with nothing going on that would be boring even for me :P

anyway starting Rosario + Vampire and after that I'll probly give FMA a try though im not sure :)

So, to try something new I decided to give shoujo anime a shot

watched "Special A" and "Kaichou wa Maid-Sama".

Special A was ok, had it's good and funny moments, but it had a bit too much girly romance at some points for my taste which made a few of the episodes slightly unbearable for me (although I enjoyed the series overall). Worth a watch if you want to try shoujo.

Kaichou wa Maid-Sama was really good. It has a lot of comedy and the romance isn't near as girly as Special A's. This one I definetely recommend, I laughed a lot with it,

yeah, I kinda found Clannad's ending a bit confusing. The anime doesn't explain the whole orb collecting thing where once Tomoya has them all he can ask for a wish to help himself as a reward for helpin everyone else. Unless you've read about this or played the Visual Novel it doesn't make much sense, one is the ending you get just by getting to the end of the story and the other one is the one you get if you've completed the whole thing.

The people who did the soundtrack just picked all the right aspects of the music imo ♥

Exactly. I had almost forgotten about the supernatural elements of the show when I was watching the ending since they only appear on so few occasions and are never explained.
As you said, you need to have played the VN to know how important the orbs are to the story´and the creators should have kept in mind that not everybody have done so and given it some sort of clear build-up.
When they pulled that 180 straight out of the blue in the last episode it made the whole thing feel... unreal and sort of meaningless to me I guess.
They build up so much tension and sadness during the earlier episodes and then without any sort of foreshadowing everything's supposed to be all warm and fuzzy because of some devine power that ultimately is never explained.
At least in Kanon (2006) they make more regular use of the supernaturality throughout the show and explain it a bit more which doesn't make things feel as farfetched at the twist in the end.

I love AS as much as the next guy, but the ending kept me from bringing myself to give it a score of 10.

AS is one of the very few animes that have brought me to tears, the characters are made in such a way that they are very easy to relate to, therefore enhancing the viewers experience...

Well that's what I personally think about it, cause at many times I could relate to Tomoya, and I could understand very well how and why he felt that way
