idk man, why would hollow fuse with shinigami self to fight him if it meant he could take over? It should have tried to help him since it would mean he could take over

Or..take over the Zanpaktou, and now the hollow has an uber zanpaktou? dunno it's a pretty obscure theory, but this IS Bleach after all.

I honestly expected to open up the chapter today and see Aizen breaking out of the seal, as well as Ichigo enraging and either getting his Shinigami powers back right there, or his hollow taking over, or the strange chance that Urahara transferred his powers (a la Rukia) to Ichigo to use.

This chapter very honestly caught me by surprise. I was like "...this is it?"
