Law does seem that way, until Doffy is involved since emotions tend to over rule him a bit.
If he calculated more he'd know he wouldn't have won vs doffy and tried to come up with a better plan.

actually, he beat him with his Opi-opi fruit, that fruit is literally OP. thats why doffy is so focused on it, it has the power to grant eternal life, change personalities. Just imagine what you can do with it, everything in that circle becomes at your disposal, ans surgeon. You can do a lot of things..

That being said, Vergo didn't have a fruit himself, Doffy reserved the Heart seat for Law when vergo left. Corazon pretty much gave Law the power to change the New World.
I think I agree with Kaido not being the easiest target, but he's someone that cannot be avoided at this point. He is gonna kill whoever has ceasar. Which is the strawhats Nami/Sanji, who are being chased by big mam. I have no idea how they are going to deal with her, they probably don't stand a chance. So they gotta pull out something good.
