zoro is secretly stronger than hawkeye kappa
i was wondering about that lol if that is true, then wouldn't have his initial dream been accomplished? since hawk eye has been known to be the strongest swordsman around the world
but anyhow zoro has been my favorite character for a while
although it follows a trend in the crew that the stronger you are, the dumber you are (luffy is the dumbest has no common sense and bad direction sense, zoro has no direction sense, and sanji just loves girls)
but imo, out of all the crew, zoro knows about luffy's feelings more than anyone. luffy may be best friends with usopp and chopper, and zoro may just be always doing his own thing, but honestly...
zoro joined becuz he had a choice either to die or to join luffy as the 1st crewmate to ever join
but he knows the significance of being the 'captain' more than anyone, and it's more than a title. from the start, zoro has always followed luffy without a doubt, and helped bring down enemy's 2nd hand man.
the first hint of this was in the desert in arabasta when he was telling chopper about how everyone had their own goals, but hinted that there may be something else that brings all the crewmates together, and he was most likely referring to luffy as a captain bringing everyone together
luffy, while being the dumbest fucker probably in the whole one piece world, his insight and the line he draws between what is right and wrong are clearly keener that most. therefore, while most other pirates around the world go around rampaging helpless villages, fighting for fame and treasure, luffy is not swayed by the material greed that dictates most men. always coming accross ppl and willing to help ppl, zoro follows that without hesitation becuz he is the only one that knows the role of the captain
when nami drops down the leaf in sky island telling them to cut down the tree, zoro is the first one to act, without question, without hesitation. he is truly the 2nd in command, never doubting luffy, and always believing luffy's trust in his crewmates
another proof is after luffy fights usopp after they get into a heated argument, and everyone is crying, except zoro, luffy comments on how heavy it feels to make this decision, and zoro comments that 'that is what makes you captain'. another proof that no one truly knows the burden luffy actually carries as captain except for zoro himself.
i wouldn't be suprised if ever since the incident that the crew was split up, zoro's loyalty to luffy became complete. or maybe it was complete before then when he took on all of the pain luffy suffered during his fight with moria, and was more than prepared to give up his life for the sake of luffy's well-being and his dream. becuz the first line he ever said to luffy after joining was 'i will kill you if you get in the way of my ambitions'. clearly not the case anymore if he's willing to die before his dream has been fulfilled
