Though this case is a bit different the stab was probably just meant to injure/surprise Eren inside to wake him up (he's probably unconscious therefore no control).
yea just a theory but im guessin, armin just stabbs his neck open, sees eren and than talk no jutsu him into moving the boulder. Cuz eren is located at the neck of the titan.
