sure he'll get his ass kicked and come near death but the chance of a story killing off MC's is low.
at least not until you get further into the plot, or closer to the end of it. (i could see him dying a heroes kind of death, or even the girl sacrificing herself for him)

Anime cut a little of the speech off i think for time but it still got the point across.

in order to save his life that was on the edge, the Sword Maiden taught the girl how to do the spell of ressurection (though can't bring back the dead, just those close to it) that consisted of sharing a bed with a virgin.
unsure if the Sword Maiden herself participated but she was at least there and helped. (which is just as lewd)
in the manga she mentions how it's usually something that's sacred, usually requires a large donation to the church and is controlled so that's it's not seen as Harlotry (prostitution)
