Well, most of them followed him simply because he was strong.
From what we saw, the only one he had to force to follow him was the King of Hueco Mundo.

I think Halibel followed him because he gave her power to protect her friends.
Stark followed him so he could be with comrades.
I don't know much about the rest. I wish they gave a reason for Ulquiorra.

But yeah I think the rest of them simply followed him because they didn't have an option not to. Follow me or die.
