Yeah, I'm not getting this whole new dragonslayer business. But whatever, I haven't understood wtf the author has been trying to do with the last ~6 chapters of randomness anyway, so it's all good.

my theory
when acnologia was summoned a black dragon appeared, but it might be possible that the other dragons spawned somewhere else, becuase maybe zeref sealed them in the past(year 777) and once they released acnologia they also released the other dragons.
the other dragons are the counterpart of the black dragon and they want to stop him thats why they took on new apprentices since they know the black dragon will eventually find them and kill them since they are no match for him.
they obviously lost their memory and just took the best kid they found to teach them the lost magic and since the new fire dragon slayer looked up to natsu it wouldn't suprise me if he was looking for the fire dragon the whole time and actually found him becuase igneel just got released and natsu wasn't around to find him. (same with the gajeel apprentice)

no explaination for the cats though besides that they were in earthland the whole time and just found their dragon slayers now
or some sort of matrix theory
if every dragon slayer dies it gets reset and starts over (7year circle wich would mean it happend 112x now and explains the dragon slayers age issue)
but this time the dragon slayers weren't dead so it created 'new' dragon slayers and cats becuase it couldn't reset since they were ''alive''

First of - Acknowlogia IS the Black Dragon. It's his name. Just like the Fire Dragon is called Igneel, Iron Dragon is called Metalica and Air Dragon is called Grandeeney >.<

Second - Gildartz have already encountered him with his 100 Years Mission. That means, Acknowlogia (The Black Dragon) was never sealed, that's IF the other Dragons was ever sealed in the first place.

I'm not against your Theory. Just want to point it out

also, if natsu and the others grew up with the dragons, how would zeref have sealed them?
he's been in his shadow form for ages.

and did they ever say that the dragon gildarts encountered was acknowlogia?

but its implied gildarts said it was a dragon who hated humanity etc...
