Chapter 404 -- Rematch: The Blue Flames!


Short Summary:

Yamamoto's desires were granted by the Hōgyoku, and his sword's flame returns. His arm is completely gone; however, he releases his Bankai -- Pierce the sky with your pale blue wings. Rise! Ryujin Jakka! His Bankai resembles a Phoenix. He explains that as a flame burns brightly, it turns blue, and his wings spread over the town. From his missing arm, a clawed flaming arm is born. He explains that from flame, all things are born anew. He claims that he will show Aizen what a true God can do. Just as the phoenix is a symbol of birth and rebirth, he too can control the life force of spirits, and because of this, spirits of men are seen within his flames. Not only was he the strongest soul reaper to ever live, but he was also the only soul reaper who could command the life force of spirits, and because of these two factors, he was chosen to create the Soul Society.
