Dude seriously? Which of his parents is a Shinigami? Look back at the chapter if you need to man. It's not a difficult question though.

I think Kubo is gonna try and stretch the series out some more by introducing some new super powerful entity/race. Why would he build up the suspense by interrupting Aizen just to have him say "Because you are Human and Shinigami" (Or "Shinigami and Human") which we already knew. It doesn't seem right to me.

I've seen worse. There are other manga series where a fight scene between only two people 1 on 1 takes literally 10-15 chapters to finish.
