How many of you knew there were manufactured devil fruits until they said it? None.

yes, thats true. But i want to see oda explaining, WHERE does it grow on. Hope it can not be on a tree... you just keep an eye on that tree and u got all fruits... Maybe 1 fruit per tree or will grow randomly anywhere

right, so stop acting like you guys know shit when you don't.

But it was hinted a number of times that a devil fruit would exist again somehow after someone gaining the power. The most logical (one piece logical I know it was just speculation) thing would be after the devil fruit user dies the fruit would somehow come back. I don't think it was confirmed how until back in Punk Hazard when smiley died and the fruit appeared again.

until Oda made the recent chapter, we didn't know. That is why I was saying it was significant. Because we DID know that there WERE manufactured fruits, why isn't it equally possible that the new mera mera was just manufactured?

Not denying that being a possibly and it was one of the speculations I had when I read the chapter. The only manufactured fruits so far that have actually been confirmed are zoan type. To be honest it would be awesome if the mera mera wasn't the real one.

Edit: some stuff I can't wait to learn about the artificial devil fruits are.
1. Can the user swim? Wouldn't it be interesting if they could. It could be one benefit.
2. Can they eat a real fruit before or after the artificial one without dying and gain both powers?
I really doubt them both but it would make for some interesting enemies

fairly certain the only thing that was stated is that they mimic real fruits but do terrible things to the users body, I think fatal poisonings or something along those lines (was stated at some point)

Wow... It's been stated that the book of fruits was made by Vegapunk by studying the waves the fruit gives off. Everyone forget this? That's what was said in the manga. But that means that he has had all these fruits that are in the data book in his possession before.
