Yeah I never understood why they didn't show how they first met in the 2011 version. I am very excited for this arc though! : D

The chimera ant arc is has 70% of the amount of chapters that the anime has shown so far. So at equal pacing it'd be roughly 53 episodes. A typical season without breaks is 13 weeks, which means 4 seasons.

However, the chimera ant arc has a handful of shorter chapters. They could do it in 3 seasons if they really wanted to. If they use filler it'll definitely be 4, if not 5.

Wtf is up with deleting scenes from the manga and replacing it with filler :/

So far the Chimera Ant adaptation isn't that great but just seeing the fights animated will be worth it.
