It's not a matter of approval, rather representation of being okay and just wrong.

That's where stereotypes come from.

Because of shit like that people think badly of anime.

Similar to racism. Somebody somewhere fucked it up and now races are stuck with that image. Black people are good, yet one person steals and whole race gets associated with it?

You wouldn't want a person in your family doing drugs and doing nothing with their life right? They like it but you don't agree. By your logic, should they keep living their  life that way, ignorant of people opinions?

Same concept with lolicons. They like little girls, but somebody somewhere took it too far and now they are stereotyped to be rapists and without morals?

Gay people are stereotyped to seem really flamboyant and disgustingly girly, yet in reality they're nothing like that and many gays get angry because of that.

Religion is good but some priest touched little boys and now religion is stuck with that image. Same fucking concept.

I don't think the way you live your life is wrong. You can have all the anime and touhou shit you want, but treating an imagined character like they're an actual person and worshiping them, that makes ME look bad.

Back on the subject of people too concerned on the thoughts of others, you just strengthened my point.

And how is my hobby conflicting with your personal self exactly? I mean, generalization of course. I don't rummage around screaming to people how much I love my waifu or go weaboo mode in public.

You're just completely defining yourself as being completely ignorant to stereotypes. I still don't understand how you classify my obsession with rapists, stealing, sodomy, and racism. Your examples are absurd and completely out of context.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say the whole time.

Your hobby is fine as I stated earlier and what I am getting at is, don't do stupid shit in public as you've just said. Privately you're free to do whatever the hell you want. I love anime and collect figurines myself but I don't go around trying to show people what I do. This isn't aimed at you but people who go overboard like that guy in the video posted earlier. Don't treat them like they are real. Everything else is fine. Tattoos, anime decals, figurines, etc. As long as you don't lose sight of what's real and what's not.

How am I ignorant? So black people are thieves? Homosexuals are trying too hard to be the opposite gender? Priests are actually pedophiles? Those examples have nothing to do with your hobby specifically, just giving examples of the concept of association. What you just said is that stereotypes are true.
I was pointing out that a few people can affect a whole populace's image.

Well at least make it look cool, not just downright embarrassment to people who like anime.

Why would I want something to look cool for others? I'm not focusing my life on other's opinions. That's the problem with a lot of people these days, too focused to get approval from others.

I don't see anything along this conversation on how this was an issue regarding public. This is where it stemmed and how I'm explaining your ignorance. So I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that you weren't aware of the entire conversation at all. I'm not sure how someone's obsession posted on a youtube video affects you at all. I'm just stating this because you're blowing this whole thing out of proportion.

It affects me and other people because people who are not familiar with anime get the wrong impression that people who like anime are like that which goes along with the rest of my argument. I've actually had someone look at me funny for saying I liked anime because they read about someone going way overboard.

And I was talking with publicity in mind. Since the video was recorded and shown to the public, I assumed you would also do something to show to the public hence the "cool" and "embarrassment".

I'm just gonna end it with the same thing I keep saying....

People need to stop caring about what others think.

Stereotypes are stereotypes because a large percentage fall under the category, not "yet one person steals and whole race gets associated with it?"

Also people can do whatever the fuck they want
