Wasn't his first introduction to team 7 mainly about "there's someone I have to kill"? I don't ever remember him being disgusted with cold-blodded revenge. I could be wrong though, it's been a while since I've read the earlier chapters.
Itachi stared him right in the face as he killed his parents. It's an image that disturbed sasuke, and he spent most of his life training to kill the traitorous image he had of itachi.
Yet this is what he's turned into.

I feel like Masashi Kishimoto was really trying to convey this irony, emphasizing the cold traitorous look. It just reminded me of what sasuke hated the most; betrayal. Revenge is what comes after betrayal, after all.

I think your the only one thinking about the deep meaning lol. Personally when I watch anime or read manga I don't care enough to analyze it since its always repetetive crap about friends on shounen.
X_X if I'm going to be a huge fan of a manga that's been going on weekly for years, I might as well be inspired!
