well he did say he dropped it after just 1ep.
everyone knows you gotta watch at least a few (like 3) of any given series (sometimes more if it's like a 2cour season) to get a decent feel for it.
the only time i'd say dropping the series on the 1st ep is normal is when the quality is absolute dog shit in terms of art/animation, since nothing can save a series if it's just bad to visually watch.

Angel Beats though is very nice, It's also often suggested by everyone when asking for drama/sad anime's.

I was so overwhelmed by it, I felt like I had ADHD because I could process nothing of what happened. (inb4 they made it that way to make you feel for what the MC is going through)
Like that guy wakes up and is instantly lectured by some tsundere knowitall, gets killed like 4 times in the next minute, then 10 new characters appear that all introduce themselves for you to remember, follow that with a 10 minute exposition dump about npcs
and god and angels. When I'm laying in bed before sleep I wanna watch some lighter stuff so yeah its all my fault blabla.
I also didnt like the comedy or any of the characters.
