I'm new to anime and here's what I've watched so far.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Paranoia Agent
Serial Experiments Lain
FLCL

I just got done watching FLCL and it was definitely my favorite. Anything like that would be really cool. I dunno if I'm up for watching one of the longer running series though. Maybe 2-3 seasons max? 3 seasons would bae a lot to get through though (at least for a newbie like me).

Yea I started Neon Genesis after seeing an amv of it on youtube while looking for new music. Then I lurked here and saw a link to myanimelist.com and looked through the recommendations to see which new ones I might like, hence Paranoia Agent and Serial Experiments Lain. But now none of the recommendations really sell me now so I'm looking for suggestions here.

You should propably explore most of the genres first.

Intrested in some romance / drama / comedy anime :P ?
