Half the problem seems to be they catch upto the manga/source material too soon which wouldn't happen as much if they didn't keep starting so many series, mob psycho for example.
Don't see why they can't take a page from the western industry and continue popular stuff every year until to fails, then start new stuff as needed.
How would continuing stuff not be good for merchandise etc, just allows individual franchises to grow more. It might encourage more source material/get some writers off their asses too if you have to have a lot out to get a successful anime!
Madhouse seems to be particular at sequels, ngnl for example which was really well for the ln sales apparently.
One piece does it right, they put out manga and anime at the same rate now, everyone is super into it now ended up spawning so many games movies w/e don't see a lot more don't try to emulate.
Just keep doing it if it's super popular basically
no game no life hit a scandal after their first season ended. (Artist for LN covers, the art the anime is based off of, got caught tracing the shit out of everything)

The reason theres so many series in terms of source material (LN and manga) is because of how rigorous the industry is. You don't understand how many series get axed. So theres alot of titles and not enough continuation. Its the same for korean webtoons. Things can get axed just by having a low count for a week or two. Which is why Smut Webtoons are a big hit right now.
Also in terms of merchandise its easier to sell things after seasons end
Take Love live for example. if they released the whole love live series at once (24 eps), they would release merchandise for a year? lets say they split it so theres a 6 month difference between each cour they could expand how long merchandise would sell for
the way shounen jump stuff works is they find a series that can go for years like one piece naruto and bleach or they axe it before it can become an anime like Psyren
