Got me a bit confused there.
I didn't find Calc I all that difficult besides the time it took. Calc II could be a different story but I haven't searched that depth just yet and I don't really plan to.
I have enough problem solving to do with my job with all the troubleshooting on the mechanic point of view.
Was pretty excited last week with my transfer acceptance to Texas A&M because I, too, want to pursue a degree in software engineering.
It's not that I hate the work of being a mechanic, it's just the people around me are utter buffoons.
Calc 1 and 2 are basically just lots of memorizing like 10+ different approaches/'algorithms' for solving a problem.
Then you just apply them over and over against various problems, where the steps you take from start --> finish differ a bit each time.
In a lot of ways, that is really the big take away. It isn't that the problems are hard necessarily, but time consuming. And also, making a mistake early on will bite you in the ass hard later.
So yeah...that is almost an exact definition of a CS job. lol.
