Well I honestly don't believe the children will actually pick up on the adult themes. They are usually too captivated in the plot and action I know that from experience.
Then when I looked at these themes later I was like what kind of nonsense are they spouting... I just think it's stupid they point it out..

I think 12y/o will easily read subs, I'm polish, and i could easily read and understand english subtitles when i was ~13.

all of the .hack series are mostly what I can remember being for his age lol.
