I'm hoping it stays true to the manga and incorporates that darker tone.

The first episode seemed a bit rushed, but I didn't mind it. The 1999 adaptation just took too long to get into the swing of things, and whenever I recommended it to people I had to warn them that they might have to suffer through the first 8-9 episodes before things kicked into gear.

I'm also anxious as to how the voice actor for Hisoka will be, make or break definitely :x

So far halfway and I have to say i have not read the manga from the beginning but I am starting to like this a bit more than the original anime.

Yes. This version is much more accurate to the manga. The only major change was leaving out the Kaito scene.

By the way I bet we will see that scene in the next episode.

Hisoka's voice was a bit darker than anticipated, at least he sounds evil. Going to have to hear him a bit more before I can judge that properly. It's a given that it will take some time getting used to it, seeing as how I have seen the old show way to many times
