If luffys crew got their ass kicked after TRAINING LIKE HELL for TWO years, wouldn't that be kinda sad?

The whole point of this arc, imo, is to set the story rolling again and show that Luffy and his crew mean BUSINESS. And not just amateur business.

this it wouldn't make sense where all the rookies to go that the strawhats after 2 years would have a hard time that mean they would be as strong as they were 2 years ago.
