personly i think you need a better starting pic.. you can barely see whats going on.

u guys were right its too dull whatcha think of this


your last one is your best because the colors match but its missing the background. also theres too much light going on. when i said lighting is important i didnt mean load it so we cant even see the render lol.. make your light source match what the render is doing. a good focal point would be below his head or where his hand is swinging up on the right side of the sig.

left side still needs .. tweaking i guess, idk. w/e i try doing with it ends up looking gay, so i keep deleting it.

well for one, sprite sigs involve c4ds, not abstract brushes.

i didn't color burn them sleep.gif
light on the bottom layer, parts overlay on top, n then highlights added if needed.
pt of lightsource imo is to give the sig a reason to be lit the way it is, so u dont have weirdass highlights all over the front of his armor, for ex, when he's lit from behind.
+contrast'n all that, but any more of stronger source would cause yucky glare, or lit in place not want lit.
is same way u'd setup a 3d piece mostly
except it'd be more obvious since u could see your lights/range onscreen
