you need a light source that focuses in on your sprite. if you look at other ones it always looks like they are powered up or somewhat. your lighting is important in a sprite sig. it has to match what the sprite is doing.

Check mine out in my profile, They kinda gotta be like that, right lit up by the sprite, and try a smaller sprite, my first sprite isn't great but it kind of turned out.

The first one for the fact that you can't see much of your background. You need to get away from making those grunge backgrounds. They don't look good.
