Well I'm pretty sure it's the same way with naruto and kyuubi. Thats why he had to waste all his chakra on shadow clones when he was doing the frog summoning training.

the first and last missions in the fillers were great

like 137-145 and 210-220

last filler i saw parts of it and just skipped to the end.. it was nowhere near as good as the getting sasuke back mission

If it's not canon, then don't count it.
Btw, regardless of the discussion here, I think it was an interesting thought that somehow Madare could have been using Tobi's body.

There are too many unknowns to outright deny it.

"Why use Tobi's crushed body, when Madara had a perfectly fine one" etc. etc.
How would we know his body was perfectly fine?

first filler was finding their hide out
last filler was with garaa

both were great

i watched all the episodes, except most of the middle fillers I kind of just skipped through to interesting parts and thats it
some of the mission parts are... boring

one of the fillers they beat another of the 7 swordsmen though
