main bad guy for the series appears about 70 episodes in i think
most recent episode is 234
so as you can imagine a lot of stuff went on

Aizen steals houkyoku and gets an army of hollows and are now fighting all the captians in soul society.

In teh soul society arc he appears to have been killed, but its actually his sword that hypnotizes people tricking them into thinking that he is dead.
