they fought for the title and the first won and tobi left
then he was mad that his clan didnt back him up for the postion and he grew a hatred for his clan cause he was trying to protect his clan because he knew if the first was to take over the first's clan would be the dominate one and have more control then his clan cause the 2 clans built the village together and when they gave the clan its own section in the village to live and made them "police officals" it was just to watch the clan to make sure they didnt do anything drastic like a revoult cause that would of killed the newly formed village and there wouldn't be a hidden in the leaf village
Tobi saw threw this and tried to revoult but his clan abandoned him for peace even know they were losing there hornor and pride to the first hokage clan and letting them take over. then tobi cam back years later and attack with the 9tails with the 4th sealed in naruto. then he came back and help Itiachi kill the clan. Itiachi did this because the his clan was planing a revolt to over throw the 3rd and he being sent to war at such a young age was affected by it and chose the out come with the least amount of deaths cause if the village was to be in civial war then another country would try and move in and take over in the choas and un organization. he did this knowing he would be an exil and ever one would hate him but he killed his family to bring peace because he did not want another more death and it just so happend thati was there and help kill the whole Uchila clan to finally get his revenge like 70 years later.
cause before there was a village there was a lot of war between lords in the fire country they wernt unified yet and out countries hired from the fire countrys and after 1000 years of fighting or so 2 clans emrege to be the best and strongest and they were the Uchila clan and the first hoake clan "dont recal name" and it turned into war between those two because if won lord hired one then the other lord had to higer the other and all battle in the fire country was between these two clans because they were the only ones hired . then the leaders tobi and the first realized if they didnt stop the fire country would fall apart and they made the first ninja village then soon after other countries saw the strength from the village and made there own vilages sand,lighting,rain etc... and asi sated above the first clan was gaining populatirty of the village and the first was crowed lord of village or hokage and tobi began to realise that his clan was going to fall if they kept on the route they were going
